Literature Text

Here we stand,
in the ashes of those past fires,
Do you remember what our battle field was like last time?

Fire rose high as you stood covered in tears,
Your sword held tightly in your sweat covered hands,
Can you even remember who won the last war?

All I remember is the burning lights,
and your cold words cutting deep,
Deep into my already shattered heart.

Now we stand,
In the ashes of our past fires,
I know you remember the last battle,
All the tears we shed trying to make things work.

Our bridge has burned down to the ground,
We have no hope of re-building it,
Can you admit that this war is finally over?

We're surrounded by burning lights,
And your cold words have finally ended,
Maybe now I can stop these tears.

Now here I go,
I'll turn the other way and walk away,
I'll go on living the life I wanted,
All the tears we shed hang in the air around us.

The bridge we built has gone away now,
I tried to reach out to you,
But all I grasped was the cold night air.

We're surrounded by burning lights,
Their almost like fireflies in the night sky,
But they have a short life, like the life we had.
I wrote this poem awhile ago, almost a year ago, but didn't know how to finish it.
